The most precious gift or the most valuable thing we all possess is time. More valuable than all of the money in the world, time is what we all have been given equal measures of. Time is truly a gift from God. The one thing that we all have in common no matter what our station in life is the amount of time we have been given each day. The best time management strategy really starts with how we view the use of our time.

My question to you is how will you use your time. Will you spend your time or will you invest your time? When you spend your time, you merely waste your time on low value activities that don’t do anything to add value to your life our the lives of others. When you invest your time you can expect a return that will not only benefit you, but also touch the lives of others. But when you spend, it is a one time transaction that leaves a lot to be desired. What are some of those things that our time, with no return? I know some think that watching TV would be the first thing on my list. But I don’t think all TV is bad if you are watching something that will add value to your life, like a show on how to invest money or how to improve your home. However, watching a show that you have seen at least three times is definitely a waste of precious time and brain cells.

Excessive Sleep is a pet peeve of mine. I seldom get 8 hours a sleep per night. Some may think that is unhealthy. However, some folk sleep simply because they love sleeping and will sleep til the cows come home. Those are also the same people sending you the email asking can they borrow some money…Think about it. Investing your time in high value activities always pay off in big ways. Reading to learn a something new is one of my favorite ways to invest time. I believe just as important as time is the relationships that we can invest our time in. When we invest quality time in our husband, wife, children and close friends, we reap rewards that last a life time. I hope this gives you some to think about today.
About the Author:

Starting potty training is welcomed by some parents and feared by others. This is a time when you must keep your patience, stay positive and think happy thoughts to stop you from getting frustrated.

The most difficult thing in the entire process is knowing exactly when to start potty training. Start your child to early and the process may take longer than it would if you started them at the correct time. So when is the right time? Most children are ready to potty train at around two years of age. But as you know yourself, every child is different. But there are a few signs to watch out for to make the decision to start potty training a lot clearer.

If your child becomes fidgety and uncomfortable in wet underwear and they are capable of letting you know before they want to do a ‘tinkle’ or ‘poopy’, this is an obvious sign. Also, if your child can keep the diapers dry in excess of 2 hours and/or can pull the diapers up and down with no problems, this is an indicator. Another big tell sign is if your child wakes up from nap time with a dry diaper.

But this still does not suggest it will be an easy task to undertake. Some toddlers will happily play in wet diapers. You can ask them if they need the toilet and they will tell you they don’t, even though they do. If this happens, having a playful looking potty chair can help. A potty chair that looks fun to use can promote them to get into the habit of going when needed.

Some toddlers will be easier as they won’t like to be in a wet diaper and they will be very vocal in letting you know that! It only takes a short while for them to get the hang of potty training as they will do anything to avoid being in a wet diaper.

You can also try to introduce some kind of reward system. Every time your toddler performs their duty into the potty, they get a sticker or a candy. Even at this age, the human mind can be enticed by the ‘what’s in it for me?’ attitude.

But above all else, a healthy dose of patience is needed. Just remember that your toddler will learn the ropes. Some learn quicker than others but they all learn in their own time. There will be plenty of mistakes so try not to get angry when they happen as this may only serve to put added stress and pressure on both you and your toddler, which will more likely slow down the learning process.
garden wedding favors

Nowadays many parents are very anxious to see their children be effective readers even before they enter elementary school. They are afraid that their child lose out to others and fall behind in the fast changing pace of education. Each milestone is closely monitored as they hope that their kid does not have any reading disorders which may hamper their development.

To give your child the edge one should start through cultivating the interest in reading in the child while they are young.

Here are 3 tips on how you can make reading more interesting

Tip # 1 Read anything and do it often.

Reading could be done anytime/anywhere throughout the day and not only confined to bedtime stories before they sleep. You can read out snippets from the magazine/newspapers that you subscribe as a change from the usual storybooks.

If you are out of the house you just have to look around to notice that we are swamp by print media through advertisements on billboards, road signs and other signage. This can help stir their interest in the daily happenings and increase their knowledge in current issues. It also helps you build up a close bond with your child as you are sharing with him/her what is close to your heart.

Tip #2 Do not just read the book from cover to back

Bring the story/article to life. Discuss with you child what the story is talking about. Get him/her to interact with the story by asking inferential questions. Use hand actions to place focus to certain items on the page which you would like to emphasize. Some books have in-built buttons where music is played, flip or slide open pockets and even textured areas which could help you to get your child to interact with the book. You can also add in songs and dance to make the story move lively.

Tip #3 Make reading fun.

Make it a positive and happy activity. Never force your child to sit and read a book if he/she is unwilling. By doing so it will only instill negative thoughts towards the activity and make them shut themselves off from being receptive to the pleasures of knowledge building through reading. If you yourself show that you enjoy reading, your child will slowly develop the same desire and interest too as they love to model and emulate what us, adults, do.
sell excess wedding stuff

Believe it or not, it is exceptionally difficult to write a page on “basic beliefs” for pagans. The main reason is because there are such a wide variety of individual beliefs in paganism, and so many different paths, that it is difficult to write a page on specific beliefs. However there are a few certain universal pagan beliefs that I will attempt to cover on this page.

As far as diety is concerned, most pagans believe in A Goddess, and a God. Instead of the Christian belief where there is only ONE supreme being and that he is male, pagans choose to believe that everything in nature has a duality…a male and female side, and therefore so should Spirit. Although believing in both a Goddess and God are central to pagan beliefs, it should be noted that there are feminist pagan groups who only believe in a Goddess, and other groups that believe that there are many Gods and many Goddesses (representing different aspects of nature).

Another belief that is universal to paganism is called “The Wiccan Rede”, and it goes like this:

“Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An’ it harm none, Do what ye will. Blessed Be to thee .”

That is actually the shortened version, however you can look up the full version on nearly any search engine. Since pagans do not have a long list of rules to live by like many other mainstream religions, this one rede is universally accepted by pagans as a “moral code”. In essence, it means “As long as you harm NO ONE (including yourself, other people, animals, plants, or anything living), then you may do what you like.” Pagans take this creed to heart. For instance, most pagans will not do love spells, because it intereferes with free will, which harms someone.

Another part of the full version of the Wiccan Rede talks about the threefold law. This is another belief that is almost universally recognized by pagans. The threefold law states that whatever your actions are, they will come back to you threefold. In otherwords, if you do a bad deed, it will be visited back upon you three times (or three times as bad!). If you do a good deed, it will likewise be returned to you threefold.

Those are the main universal beliefs of paganism. Individual pagans may include additional beliefs and ways to worship, but these 3 main points are the essence of paganism. All pagans also hold a universal high respect for nature, and everything in it. We believe that the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water, are very powerful, and are to be respected and honored.

As stated before, individual pagans may have beliefs specific to them, such as: belief in fairies, doing rituals only in skyclad (naked!), focus on herbal magick, and many others.

coffee favors

Breastfeeding and smoking is an issue a lot of people ask me about. I’m assuming you know you should not smoke while you’re pregnant! The nicotine you ingest smoking will go through your body and into your baby’s body, addicting it just as surely as you’re addicted. Not only might your child suffer from the harmful effects of all of those chemicals you’re passing on, but when it’s born, it will go through withdrawal symptoms.

So, if you’re pregnant, you need to quit!

Now, what if you just had your child and you can’t (or won’t) quit?

There’s been a big push in the last ten or so years to get mothers in the United States and elsewhere to breastfeed. Breastfeeding offers your child a ton of benefits, including greater immunity to diseases. It might even help protect him from cancer down the line.

But if you’re breastfeeding and smoking, I’m sure you’ve wondered if the harmful chemicals you’re getting through smoking are being passed through your milk to your child.

The answer is, yes they are. For the most part, whatever you ingest into your body can be passed along to your baby through breastfeeding.

So, what are you to do?

Well, the obvious answer is you need to quit smoking! However, that’s much easier said than done. What if you can’t quit-at least for now.

What I don’t want to do is to ever give you an out when it comes to smoking. Let me make myself completely clear: You must quit! And you must quit now!

We do, however, live in a real world, and I know that not every new mother who is breastfeeding and smoking is going to quit just because I said so. So, let’s discuss what you should do about your breast milk! In other words, should you give up nursing, if you can’t quit smoking?

Before I did some research on this topic, I would have thought that, yes…you should give up nursing if you smoke. After all your baby is getting all of that harmful stuff through you. The CDC, however, thinks otherwise.

The CDC actually recommends that you should breastfeed, even if you smoke. Turns out, breastfeeding is so incredibly good for your child that the benefits outweigh the potential harm.

You still need to quit, though. For more information on how to quit, see my website.
premium themes for wordpress

Many people say that is more difficult to potty train a boy than it is a girl. From my experience in toilet training hundreds of children I have found that the basics are the same for both sexes. This is true whether the child is toilet trained at home or potty trained in a daycare situation.

They are no harder to train

Boys are a little different to potty train but are no harder. You can either sit your son down, this can be easier if you are toilet training a younger child or have stand up and pee if this is what he is used to seeing a male doing. Potty training a boy can be easier when you are out and about because boys will often enjoy peeing against a tree and sometimes they want to do this even when they don’t really need to urinate.

Consistency plays a vital role

Consistency is the number one rule and the most important thing you need to learn and implement when potty training your son. Why is this? Inconsistency will confuse your child and he will find it harder to know exactly what is expected of him. Many parents I have worked with disregard this very important rule and wonder why they find it so difficult to potty train their child. They fluctuate between having him in diapers and then in underpants depending on what they are doing or where they are going and potty training is harder for him.

Rewards and praise work

If you use rewards and praise effectively then the whole process of toilet training your child will be accomplished faster and easier. A toilet training rewards chart works well especially if you buy him some extra special stickers. Take him with you and let him help to choose them but don’t be tempted to give into whining, tantrums or arguments and allow him to have them when he has not gone potty.

Use Positive Reinforcement

When toilet training your son use positive reinforcement to encourage compliance and not negative. Tell him what you want him to do and not what you don’t want. “Do your pee on the potty” rather than “Don’t do your pee in your pants”. Praise him when he does perform in the correct place and avoid criticizing him when he has an accident.

Potty train with other children

Potty training your child with another child especially an older child makes the whole process much quicker. Have friend round who are starting potty training at the same time. I have often seen fairly young children want to start potty training themselves because they are spending time with slightly older children who know how to use the potty.

You can go cold turkey

It is possible to go cold turkey this type of approach may be more suited to an older child. This means on a specific date determined by you and your family situation you remove diapers or pull ups from your child completely and don’t put them at all day or night. Sometimes this is easier than doing daytime first and nighttime later which is the approach many parents use.

Potty training your child at first instance can appear to be a daunting experience. Make sure you prepare well and follow through with consistency and it will be much easier.

Reward charts can help to make the toilet training experience easier and more enjoyable for your child.
bridal shower favors

All of us procrastinate on occasion. For some people, it’s a chronic problem; for others, it’s only a problem in certain life areas. Procrastination is always frustrating because it results in wasted time, lost opportunities, disappointing work performance, and generally feeling bad about yourself.

When you procrastinate, you allow less important tasks to take up the time and space that should be devoted to more important things. You do things like hanging out with friends when you know that an important work project is due soon, or going shopping instead of doing your homework. It can also be evident in behavior such as talking about trivial things with your partner to avoid discussing important issues in your relationship.

Most people don’t have a problem finding time for things they want to do. But once they see a task as too difficult, painful, boring, or overwhelming, the procrastination behaviors begin. You are not alone if you have ever made any of the following excuses to yourself:

1.	It’s too cold to exercise outside today. I’ll wait until tomorrow when it’s warmer.
2.	I’ve got too many other things to do first.
3.	I’ll do a better job when I can concentrate on this project.
4.	I still have lots of time to get this done.
5.	They don’t pay me enough to do a more complete job. This is good enough.
6.	This problem is too hard to talk about. I wouldn’t know where to start.
7.	I work better under pressure.
8.	It’s too noisy to work while my teenager is at home.
9.	I should get the shopping down now because the stores will be more crowded later.
10.	I can eat this pie tonight, because I’m starting my diet tomorrow.
11.	My tooth doesn’t really hurt that much. The pain will probably go away tomorrow.

Most of the time, these excuses seem fairly innocuous. However, they’re not as innocent as they seem, because they cause us to postpone important duties and projects. Ultimately, these excuses can keep us from accomplishing important goals and make us feel bad about ourselves.

Why People Procrastinate

If you were hoping for a simple answer to this puzzle, you will be disappointed to learn that there are many reasons why people put things off. Here are a few of the most common (check those that apply to you):

Avoiding discomfort. Wanting to avoid pain makes lots of people shift into procrastination mode. However, the longer we delay, the worse the uncomfortable problem usually becomes. The rash gets bigger, the tooth hurts more, or the brakes squeak even more loudly.

Perfectionism. Those who believe they must produce the perfect report may obsess about uncovering every last information source and then write draft after draft. Their search for the perfect product takes up so much time that they miss their deadline.

Laziness. Sometimes people delay tasks that involve fairly slight inconvenience or minor discomfort.

Thinking you’re not good enough. Some people are certain that they are incompetent. They think that they will fail, and procrastinate to avoid ever putting their skills to the test.

Self-doubt. If you second-guess yourself, you probably suffer from procrastination. You may avoid new challenges and opportunities unless you are certain that you will succeed. Perhaps you make feeble attempts to begin a project, and you tell yourself that you could do a better job if you put in more effort.

Workaholism. At the other end of the spectrum, many people who work excessively also fall into this category. They drive themselves ruthlessly, fearing that if they stop working, they will not be able to start again. Most self-doubters are driven by the belief that they must meet strict standards in order to see themselves as successful.

Physics Review

Remember the concept of inertia: a mass at rest tends to stay at rest.

For some reason, it is more difficult for most humans to start change than to keep it going.

Why Don’t We Just Say No?

Since procrastination produces mostly negative outcomes, why don’t we just change our behavior and eliminate these undesirable consequences? The reason for this is that procrastination reinforces itself. For some reason, it is more difficult for most humans to start change than to keep it going. We avoid getting started by cleverly diverting our attention from the things we really should be doing. We do something else instead or make up a story about how we will accomplish the task in the future-when we are inspired, or when we have completed a preliminary step, or some other trick.

Although recognizing how these diversions work won’t automatically cure your procrastination, being aware of it is a good place to start working on the problem. Once you are aware of the ways that you procrastinate, you can start to change your behavior.
never say never

Getting organized is the key to making your life as a work at home mom efficient and, relatively, stress free. If you can get and stay organized, your business and your home life will flourish. Without taking some simple organizational steps you’ll be swamped with work and overwhelmed with laundry in no time.

One of the most important parts of getting organized as a Wahm is to establish business hours. Setting up specific working times during each day has many benefits. First, you’ll be more consistent with your work. Once you’ve gotten used to starting and stopping at a specific time each day you’ll work more efficiently. You’ll manage your work time better and reduce distractions like checking your e-mail or watching television. You’ll also be less likely to pick up things to do here and there, like laundry or taking time to errands. If you have set working hours, you’ll schedule those tasks around your work time so you’ll be more focused during your work time. It will help your family and friends understand that you are working while you are at home, and you won’t be available during those hours.

Next, you need to start delegating tasks to other family members. It may seem easier to do everything yourself, but once you have work duties on top of household duties you’ll realize how few hours in the day there actually are. There is nothing wrong with asking your children to fold the laundry, or having your husband cook dinner a few nights a week. By sharing the household duties as a family, you’ll have more time to get your work done and feel more rested. The important thing to remember when you delegate is that things won’t be done the way that you would do them. However, they are getting done.

Planning your work and family activities will make the whole house run smoother. If you don’t have a daily planner, then you need to get one. It doesn’t matter if it is a paper planner or a computer application. When you use a planner to write down everything that needs to be done, and then plan each activity for a specific time then you’ll have the opportunity to manage your time more wisely in and out of your home office.

Organizing your home at large will help make your business more organized. While it may take a while to establish some organizational habits in your house, your efforts will be well worth it. Don’t try to get organized in a weekend or even several days. Work up to a level of organization. Start small with your desk space. Organize the things in your desk and top of your desk. Make sure that everything that you need has a place, and toss or donate things that you don’t need. Then move on to another portion of the house. When something is out of place, it’s easy to put it back in its home once you’ve taken the time to organize your storage spaces around the house. If need be, take a trip to an office supply store or home improvement store and buy items like bins, cabinets and shelves that will help you stay more organized.

Getting organized as a Wahm does take some time and effort. Realize that with time your organizational system will get better. Work with your family to make your home run efficiently, and then you’ll be able to concentrate on your work when you need to.

About the Author:
