Be honest with yourself: procrastination is a real killer. We suffer so much from it, it makes living life like being in a pressure cooker and it is probably the biggest reason that we are not successful. Why do we suffer from this, and much more important, what can you do about it? If you know what I’m talking about keep on reading- this might be your ticket to overcoming this destructive habit and to get out of the pressure cooker.

Why do we procrastinate? Here are the two main reasons.

1. Fear of failure. No one likes to fail, so we think to ourselves, “If I don’t try I won’t have to suffer the feeling of failing.”

2. Fear of succeeding.Think about if for a second and don’t just laugh at me (even if does sound way off!) If you are successful you will have to make huge life style changes. If you become super rich you’ll move out of the neighborhood and have to make new friends. Not too much fun, no? And more than that, if you are successful, people will expect more from you and you’ll have to work harder. Who wants that? Often times this is going on deep down in your head (in a place where you are not even aware that you are thinking like this)

“Makes sense”, you say to yourself, “but what should I do about it?” Unfortunetly there is no magic wand to help us overcome our procrastination and no magic pill. MAGIC PILL, oh yeh, sadly, some people do turn to medicine but this is surely not the answer. It is only temporary, wears off and then you are back to square one, with the added problem of it being a few hours later and the work is still not done! It is a viscous down spiraling cycle! Drugs are not the answer.

What then is the answer; change your mindset. This, unfortunately much easier said than done. There is no easy way to do this.

One way to do it, though, is to sit down and ask yourself the following question, “What is the worst thing that can happen if I succeed/ fail?” By envisioning the worst case scenario, you realize that in many cases, the worst isn’t really all that bad. You should know though, that it might be pretty bad, “If I go on the plane and it crashes…” However, when your realize how infrequently this happens, you’ll see that there is nothing really to worry about.

After you spend a little time envisioning the wost that can happen, start to envision the GREAT FEELING and other benefits that you’ll have when you do finish your chore.

These two thoughts together, increasing your awareness of the benefit and decreasing the pain of doing what you have to do, will help you to finally get a move on things.

In my signature there is a review of a great resource that WILL help you get over your procrastination and may very well change your whole life. Read it and begin to have a happy life.
About the Author:

Not having enough time is a common problem that many people suffer from. You may feel stressed and frustrated because you’re constantly chasing the clock trying to get everything done. Don’t you sometimes wish that you could have a bit more time? Although there are only 24 hours in a day, instead of wishing for more time, how about identifying where you can save some time. Here are two strategies so that you can free up some of your time, leaving you able to accomplish more towards your goals and perhaps enjoy some leisure time.

1. Eliminate the time wasters in your day.

Although you may have lots to get done each day, its surprisingly easy to get caught up in activities that actually waste your time. Some tasks can appear to be important and unless they are completely in alignment with the goals you want to achieve, I suggest that you question their necessity. There’s also the time wasters such as drawn out telephone calls, interruptions as people just drop by for some help. Many people also find it difficult to stay focused on their tasks or they lack direction so waste quite a bit of time jumping from one thing to another. As there are many different time wasters and different ones affect different people, I invite you to identify specifically what wastes your time and eliminate it. Even if you just pick one time waster for now, you can work in eliminating others later.

2. Set a time limit for each task.

Tasks often take longer to complete than they need to and setting a realistic but slightly tight time limit can really help you to work more productively. I’m sure you can think of times when a task has taken ages and yet if you’d set yourself a time limit on it, I bet you know that you could have got it done and done well in that time. Tasks that are allowed an indefinite amount of time often take far too long, robbing you of your precious time. Time that could be spent more productively or enjoyably. Give each task a realistic time limit, set an alarm and then put 100% of yourself into completing the task in that time.

So, now you have two time management strategies here that could easily save you lots of time each and every day. I encourage you to put at least one of these into action today. Just imagine how good you will feel with a bit more time to enjoy.
premium wordpress templates

We’ve been procrastinating for years. Some people think that they are actually more productive when they wait to the last minute. For some, that may be true, but at the end of the day, better planning and time management is more effective.

Overcoming procrastination isn’t easy, but it can be done. You need a little determination and a few tips to help you get on task and stay on task.

The first step to solving any problem is to admit you have one. The second step is acknowledging you want to solve that problem and will do what it takes to overcome the issue. It may sound like a 12 step program, but this really is the first thing to getting past it.

Basically, there seem to be three reasons one procrastinates. First, none of us want to do something we think is unpleasant. Another reason we put off tasks is there are so many other things we would rather be doing. The final reason we procrastinate is because a job or task seems overwhelming.

Even when you can bring yourself around to doing that which is unpleasant you will find a million other excuses why the task can wait. Whatever your reason for procrastinating you must find a way to overcome the excuses.

If the problem facing you is a job you don’t want to do, then think of some way to leverage your best interest in favor of getting the task done. Offer yourself a reward once the job is done. Do something for yourself.

If you really want to do something else, then make that your reward for doing the task you are avoiding. Find a way to gratify yourself. Immediate gratification seems to work wonders as a motivator for overcoming procrastination.

When a task overwhelms you, try to break it down into smaller jobs or tasks. It will help you overcome procrastination when the job seems doable. Breaking the task into smaller jobs makes each of them achievable. Pretty soon, the entire task will be done.

Get organized and practice time management. Spend a few minutes planning every day. Set a schedule and stick with it. If a job is running over its time, then stop. Add it to your list to work on tomorrow. You aren’t going to overcome procrastination overnight, but with a little practice you’ll soon be doing everything right on time.

If you fall back into the same habit again, don’t get frustrated. Learn to forgive yourself. Recommit, and get back on the wagon. You can do it. You just have to believe in yourself.
wine party favors

Happiness is very essential to attracting everything you want in life.It is the key to raising your

physical, emotional, and mental energy, making it easier to attract everything else of a higher energy. If you are experiencing frustration in your life day after day then it is a good idea to sit down with yourself and examine a few areas of your life.

Some people work very hard and experience frustration trying to do a particular job. However, in terms of their own happiness, the right answer might be to do something else, or to do what they’re doing in a different place, or to do it with different people-or all three.

Here are four questions to ask yourself in the arena of happiness.

“What would it take for me to be perfectly happy?”

Write down every single thing that you can imagine would be in your life if you were perfectly happy at this very moment. Write down things such as money, relationships, health, home, clothes, automobile, inner peace, travel. Let your mind run freely, imagine you have no limitations.

“What is holding me back?”

Be honest with yourself here. Think about what situations in your life, and with whom, are you not perfectly happy. Force yourself to think about every part of your day. Identifying unsatisfactory situations is the first step to resolving them.

“Where and when have I been the happiest?”

In looking over your life where and when have you been the happiest? Where were you and what were you doing? This question will help you determine what is of value to you in your life.

“What can you do immediately to start creating the life you dream of?”

Once you have the answers to the above questions, think about what you can do, starting today, to begin creating the kind of life you would like to be living right now. It may take a week, a month, or a year, but that does not matter. Every single thing you do that moves you closer to your ideal vision will be rewarding in itself. You will become a more positive and optimistic person. You’ll feel more confident and more in charge of your life, and you’ll achieve peace of mind.

Invest 20 minutes at least every day to seeing yourself living that life you dream of. Feel how good it feels to be living that life and carry around that happiness with you everyday. Remember happiness is not about what you get but what kind of person you become because of it.

seo consulting

“I hate doing this; let me do something else instead which is far less important but more enjoyable and / or easier.”

Sound familiar? Procrastination is putting off to another time what you should be doing right now. It’s amazing what we will do to avoid doing what we should be doing. It is indeed the biggest success killer!

Procrastination is merely a series of bad time habits and a lack of discipline. It takes time and determination to change habitual procrastination.

So what causes procrastination? It can be for many different reasons such as: too hard; too complex; not sure where to begin; fear of failure; lack of interest; perfectionism; lack of enjoyment; poor work environment and indecision.

So what should you do about it?

• Break big tasks into small manageable ones

• Reward yourself for completing tasks you don’t enjoy. If you don’t do it, don’t reward yourself!

• Create a deadline: Otherwise tasks will usually go on far longer than they need to. Tell others of your deadline.

• Create a distraction free environment

• Complete tasks (no matter how small) and cross them off your to do list. Each little win gives you momentum!

• Do the toughest, most unenjoyable tasks first.

Procrastination is the thief of time. It takes away your self esteem, your momentum and performance suffers as a result. Many of the above tips on beating procrastination you have probably heard before. It is one thing to know what to do; and quite another to do what you know. Follow through on some of the suggestions above and you will see improvements right away both in performance and self confidence. Good luck!

copyright http://www.blakebeattie.com/
mom blog

What part of you is only 1% to 3% of your body’s mass, yet uses 20% of all the oxygen you breathe? Your brain! Here are ten more brain facts.

- Your brain needs a continuous supply of oxygen. A 10 minute loss of oxygen will usually cause significant neural damage. Cold can lengthen this time, which is why cold-water drowning victims have been revived after as much as 40 minutes – without brain damage.

- Your brain uses a fifth of all your blood. It needs it to keep up with the heavy metabolic demands of its neurons. It needs not only the glucose that is delivered, but of course, the oxygen.

- Your brain feels no pain. There are no nerves that register pain within the brain itself. Because of this, neurosurgeons can probe the brain while a patient is conscious (what fun!). By doing this, they can use feedback from the patient to identify important regions, such as those used for speech, or visualization.

- The cerebellum is sometimes called the “little brain,” and weighs about 150 grams (a little over five ounces). Found at the lower back side of your brain, you need your cerebellum to maintain posture, to walk, and to perform any coordinated movements. It may also play a role in your sense of smell.
- The human brain weighs an average of a little over three pounds, or 1.4 kilograms. Albert Einstein’s brain may have been smaller than yours, because he was smaller than average. There is a general correlation between body size and the size of our brains.

- An elephant’s brain is huge – about six times as large as a human brain. However, in relation to body size, humans have the largest brain of all the animals, averaging about 2% of body weight. A cat’s brain? It weighs about one ounce, a little over 1% of body weight.

- There are about 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the brain. If they were stretched out (there’s a nice thought!) they would circle the earth more than four times.

- If you have an average sized brain, you have about 100 billion neurons up there. You’ll be happy about that after reading the next item.

- Approximately 85,000 neocortical neurons are lost each day in your brain. Fortunately, his goes unnoticed due to the built-in redundancies and the fact that even after three years this loss adds up to less than 1% of the total. Oh, and look at the next item.

- Recent research proves that your brain continues to produce new neurons throughout your life. It also proves that it does so in response to stimulation (do those brainpower exercises). Scientists refer to this as brain plasticity or neuro-plasticity. You may find this one the most encouraging of these brain facts.
seo

Many of the world’s most driven and successful people sleep only 4 to 5 hours per day. Do you really need to sleep 8 or more hours? No, you don’t. No one does. Reduce sleep and increase your energy? Have you ever thought of reprogramming your inner sleep clock as a time management tool? Imagine what you’d do with an extra 21 hours in your week!

A “sleep scientist” has come up with some easy to implement techniques for sleeping less, a means of programming your inner time clock for a more energized sleep, so you need less time in bed. Feel more rested, more alert and more energized than you would with the number of hours you’re currently sleeping. Yes, you really can increase your energy by decreasing your sleep! Reducing your sleep by 3 hours a night (21 hours a week) is the goal. And it is definitely achievable.

What times of day you feel tired, and how long you sleep, is determined by a number of factors, and some of these factors can be influenced by you to decrease the need for sleep. Once you understand efficient sleeping, these techniques can be utilised to increase the quality of your sleep and at the same time reduce your time spent sleeping.

Are you aware that your body temperature rises and falls during the day and night according to your body clock? Synchronising these temperature changes with your sleeping habits can and does produce remarkable results.

Jet lag is the result of these temperature fluctuations getting out of sync with your sleeping pattern. That’s why it takes so long to “readjust” to the new time zone. These revolutionary techniques can even help you beat jet lag!

You may have heard of “power napping”. This is one part of the strategy used in this powerful sleep technique. But it’s essential to use the power nap correctly. Sleep too long during your power nap, and you’ll actually cause damage to your sleep system. But power nap at the right time of the day, and learn how to speed up your body temperature rise afterwards, and you can boost your energy levels and reduce your sleep time dramatically.

This important Powerful Sleep package is available here: www.PowerfulSleep.BrigitteRecommends.com
You can even review the first 2 chapters for free.

A University of California study, completed in 2002, established that people who sleep less than 8 hours per day actually live longer than those who sleep 8 hours or more. The study was carried out using over 1 million participants, and over a period of some 6 years, and its results are now accepted without question.

Insomnia is a significant problem in the industrialised world. And hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people are treated for insomnia with drugs. What you won’t be told by the drug companies is that these drugs are producing a very inefficient sleep, so you end up needing more.

This is why you’ll wake up feeling groggy, every time you take a sleeping pill, no matter how long you sleep for. Well, guess what? You’ll never need another sleeping pill when you understand how to have an energized sleep, and you’ll spend less time sleeping as well.

So if you’re interested in lengthening your life, exploding your energy, having an extra 21 hours in your week, eliminating insomnia, and beating jetlag, you can!

“It’s just been one of those days…I can’t seem to get anything done! I’ve got way too many things on my “To-Do List”. Oh the list started out innocently enough as a single handwritten column on one sheet of lined paper; but now it’s grown to a three-column table in a spreadsheet software program! I get no satisfaction from checking off each item as I finish it. For each task I complete, at least two more are added. I began my work day at 6:30 AM with grandiose plans of completing a special project before Noon. Now it’s 16 hours later (10:30 PM) and I still have not finished the project. My anxiety and frustration are mounting. Tomorrow’s list has already been written and it does not include the things left undone from today’s list! I don’t know if I’m going to make it through the week with all of the demands upon my time and energy. I need help…quickly!

A Juggling Act

I wrote the above entry in my journal several days ago. What a day that was! How about you…been there lately?

Life can be such a juggling act. Like professional jugglers, we try to keep 5 or 6 balls moving through the air at the same time. But unlike professional jugglers, we rarely succeed.

Everyone is so busy these days. Work is performed at a frantic pace and people are in such a hurry. There is an air of impatience and intolerance—a lot of frenetic darting to and fro that is almost out of control. It’s very difficult to keep your priorities in line when life is so fast paced. But the negative consequences of so much activity—stress, damaged or broken relationships, poor health—can wreak more havoc than what we think we will gain.

The Urgent

I tried for years to use a paper-based time management system with columns similar to this: “Must Do…Need to Do…Like to Do”. I’m sure you’ve used something like this (maybe even now). The problem I encountered was that I never seemed to get around to doing much in the “Like to Do” column, which was very discouraging. The “Must Do and Need to Do” items consumed all of my time.

So I switched to a simpler paper-based system with the following columns, “Urgent” and “Important”. Now, I was sure to spend my time wisely. Unfortunately, I found out that the urgent things monopolized my time and pushed the important things to the back-burner.

Here are three examples of ”The Urgent”:

Pressing or burning imperatives that must be completed immediately. Critical or vital tasks that someone else insists be performed without delay. Unrelenting and persistent routine demands on your time.

The Important

“The Urgent” often masquerades as ”The Important”. However, not everything we do is important. To identify what’s important to you requires that you answer three questions:

Will the activity I am about to participate in make a significant and lasting positive impact on others? Is what I am about to do an unselfish act that will bring happiness or joy to others? Do my actions and activities promote balance in my life or are they all-consuming?

The Bottom Line

Identifying ”The Important” requires focus—a concentration of energy, effort, and thought. ”The Important” is where you should spend most of your time. Now, before you send me screaming emails, I don’t mean that you shouldn’t address ”The Urgent”. Instead, consider the following:

Focus on ”The Important”!

Priority is the key to managing ”The Urgent” and focusing on ”The Important”. Before you leap to complete a task, take a few moments to think about its true priority. Does it need to be done right at this moment, or is there something else on your list that should come first?

While others may demand that everything on your To-Do List must be done immediately, you and only you can really determine what should be done first, second, third, etc. (It’s not possible to do everything at once; priority must be given to each item).

Today, I’ve taken a dose of my own medicine and committed to focusing on ”The Important”. So far, I’ve accomplished at least one thing that will have a significant and positive impact on others—finishing this article.
seo

Most people are looking for ways to accomplishing more in the time they have allotted to them each day. One way that this can be done is by keeping the to do list, where everything that needs to done is written down. If you need to improve your time management, then use these five simple time management tips to improve how you use to do lists to get things done.
If what you need to do is a large time-consuming project, then divide it into smaller tasks that can be done in two hours or less. Then write down the shorter tasks in the order in which you feel they need to be done and assign possible due dates to them. When planning daily activities, reduce time spent on errands or appointments by grouping together items logically. Then you can make a plan or map to get things done. Alternatively, you may choose to ask a co-worker, friend, or family member to do something for you when they are in a specific area. Prioritize your to do list so you are working on the most important tasks to accomplish each day. When time allows after important items, you can work on other priorities or get a jump on a future task Divide your to do list horizontally by writing during job time items at the top of the to do list and outside of work items at the bottom. This allows you to see at a glance what you need to do for your job and what is personal. Review your list at the beginning of each day so you know what must be done and can arrange your schedule to accommodate.

Now you have five tips for to do list tips you may find helpful in your personal time management program.

NOTE: For more tips to consider for implementation with the to do list, see articles titled “Five Simple Time Management Tips for To Do Lists” and “Improved Time Management Includes Setting 3 Priorities”articles.
About the Author:

Effective Time management is critical for one’s business and for it to grow rapidly.

If you are involved in any type of business time is not on your side ever and it can actually be working against every single day.

Time is what makes the world go round and what keeps us on a daily routine. When building a business you must diversify your time into areas that your business and your BANK ACCOUNT will benefit from rather quickly.

Many individuals fail or lack success and business growth because they have many distractions around them, examples being, cell phone, checking email every couple of minutes, chatting online, calling friends, looking around on the web. These are all bad habits that will slow ones business growth and have a effect on your bank account.

So here are some strategies to take into consideration when managing your time:

1. Work in 3-4 hour block periods, Many may sit infront of the computer for 10-12 hours and will get nothing done, but if you really focus for 3-4 hours you will get many more things done.

2. Take a break every so often, and let the mind reset and the continue working afterwards. Its important to relax the brain and then re-focus once again, if you do not do this your brain will slow down same with train of thought.

3. Eat an effective healthy meal in the morning to get your body working correctly aswell with your mind..Eating healthy helps the mind and the brain very much so.

4. Everytime a project is complete make sure to review it and have someone else review it, then make the necessary changes and move on to the next. Many tend to spend to much time on 1 project and then time runs out to work on others.

5. Your daily routine should always be duplicating what you did the day before until you see it almost on autopilot. For example, writing articles 5-10 per day eventually is going to lead to so much exposure that you will no longer need to write so many in a single day, you find someone to do it for you and to manage your content as well.

These are some great ways to take action on some effective time management ideas and strategies.

Have A Great Day.
cloud law
