If you want to start a legitimate home based business, one of the best places to start is with the MLM style business. MLM stands for multi-level marketing, and in some circles, it is known as network marketing. You will be able to start one of these businesses with ease, but you should learn as much as you can about the business and the product or service that the MLM company is offering before you decide which one to join.

What do you need to start a home based business? The first thing that you need is a good work ethic. Just because you are working online doesn’t meant that it won’t take effort. You need to put in the effort to learn about the business and all of the things you can do to make it successful, including marketing online. You are also going to need to have a good attitude and a positive outlook. This will go a long way in helping you reach your goals.

When you start your work from home business, you must not limit your options. All of the research that you did for online marketing will now come into play. Don’t assume that you will only get a few clients based on the people you know. That is a self-defeating attitude that is sure to lead to failure. You want to utilize your marketing skills, as well as any other marketing tips you pick up online, and then implement them.

You are also going to need to stick with the business. Get rich quick ideas do not work. You need to put in the time that it takes to get your business off the ground. This can take months and in some cases even longer. Every entrepreneur knows that he or she must stick with the business to see it through and to see how things pan out. If you aren’t making as much as you had anticipated, then you might want to look at the way you are marketing.

If you find that you need help with your business, you can find a number of places online that can help. You can find resources, better ways to market and generate leads, and ways to use the Internet to its full potential. Choose a good MLM business and then put in the effort. You will see that it pays off.

favor bags

When you are considering working from home, there is a set of decisions that must be made. First, you must decide whether or not working at home is right for you. Next, you need to consider what type of work at home job you will be doing. There are many opportunities for Wahms out there, both offline and off. Having a successful Wahm career starts with evaluating your own skills and requirements in a job and then finding the right match.

Sometimes the best place to start with your Wahm career is where your out of the home career ended. Many women find that they can become independent contractors in the field that they previously worked in. You can use your previous work experience as a launching pad for your Wahm career. Some of the ways to use your experience to your advantage are: finding a company that hires people in your field to work from home, using your previous experience to become an expert writer in your field or starting a business related to your previous field.

However, some women look at their Wahm careers as a way to break out of their old job. If you do like to try something completely different, there are plenty of opportunities for entry-level work as an independent contractor. Many of these jobs deal with telephone or online customer service. When you work as a customer service agent from your home, you just need a reliable Internet connection and a working phone. Companies also hire medical transcriptionists, data entry professionals and virtual personal assistants to telecommute.

If you want to start your own business, the opportunities are very vast. You can start with a direct sales company and sell products from an established brand to friends and neighbors. You will make commissions through your sales and also off of recruiting other people to sell the products. There are hundreds of direct sales companies that offer everything from aromatherapy products to candles to cooking supplies.

Another option for starting your own business is offering a service in your community. Day care center operators, florists, professional organizers and hairdressers all have the option of working at home, among many other professions. Of course, starting a business in your community normally means that you have had some experience in that field. However, there are some small business ideas that can be started without much experience at all.

Many women turn to the Internet for a source of at home income. The World Wide Web offers a plethora of job opportunities. You can offer your services online as a freelance web designer, writer or virtual assistant. You can also start an online store that sells products that you make yourself or have the rights to resell. Many Wahms establish their businesses online by using one of the popular auction sites, like eBay. Still others find a home in internet marketing, by directing web traffic to a website and then recommending certain products and services.

Decide first what type of job you do like to do and then work from there. If you are truly a people person and need to get out each day, direct sales or a local service business might be right for you. If you are the type of mom who lives online and is comfortable with the Internet, try finding a job or starting your own business on the web. If you like the comfort of having a weekly paycheck, look into telecommuting positions.

Once you have decided what category of job you do like, do some research on what it takes to be successful at that type of business. If you feel like you are drawn to one particular business or company, then sit on your decision for a week and see how it feels. Imagine what your life will be like as you take on the duties of that job. Most importantly, be realistic with yourself about how much time you can devote to your business. Finding the right match is not hard when you thoroughly consider your options.

unique wedding favors

A home daycare could be the perfect solution not only for you as a stay at home mom, but for your children by providing early social development and built-in playmates. It’s also helpful for stressed out moms in the workforce by giving them a more personal, flexible alternative to commercial daycare centers.

Many moms have to find a child-care solution. Most employers look on a woman with kids as a bad hiring risk, and of course will not be sympathetic if the daycare closes before the mom’s shift ends or her little one is not being well treated. As for time off if the baby is sick and the daycare bans them for a week – forget it.

A home daycare could be the answer these mothers are looking for, customarily offering an environment that has less children and more personal attention. They also will get to know you well, and feel more comfortable knowing their child is well cared for.

Before you start a daycare, however, you should make sure you can meet the standards in place where you live. Every state has rules and regulations, and you want to make sure you follow the law.

You have the option of deciding what age children you will accept, and how much you will charge – although there may be set standards if you decide to qualify as a state provider. This can help you if you would like a guaranteed check for your services, as you can be paid by the state to care for children from low income families.

The upside to starting a daycare is that you will be able to continue as a stay at home mom and not have to miss out on your own children’s first years! You can also find other at home jobs to do in your spare time to make more supplemental income.

There is a downside too, of course. Realize that it won’t always be easy. There will be sick kids, crazy days when your house is left in a disastrous mess, and those parents who decide that their dry cleaning bill comes before their childcare tab.

This last is perhaps the hardest to deal with – and you must take a firm hand to nip such behavior in the bud. Make it clear in a kind but definitive way that you need to be paid on time, every time, or you will be unable to watch the child.

If you draw up a clear document of your policies, and make sure you each get a signed copy, you can head off a world of potential hurt, so protect yourself from as much unpleasantness as you can by making the rules very plain from day one.

Hopefully your home daycare will prosper and you will have a great relationship with the children and parents alike. Then you will have found a perfect way to supplement your income without ever leaving your home!

wedding fans

I am always on the lookout for scams, I hate scams, so the first time I came across “mystery shopping” I thought for sure it was a total and complete scam. I mean who would really believe that you could make money by shopping right? Well, I have to admit the mystery shopping isn’t always and totally a complete scam, but there are red flags and warnings that you need to know before investing time into this type of venture.

So, what exactly is mystery shopping?

Mystery shopping is when you pose as a customer, and observe the overall quality of a store (employees, services, cleanliness, ect.) Because you are a “mystery” shopper, the employees obviously should not know who you are or what you are doing there. The company that you are working for will give you an assignment, in which you are given about a week to complete.

After you have observed the details of a particular venue, you will most likely be given a questionnaire to complete on the service that you received. These questionnaires differ in length, and you should look over the questionnaire before you go on assignment so that you know what to look for when filling it out. Most questionnaires are completed online.

The next big question, how much does it cost?

I really don’t like jobs that take an initial investment, since my budget doesn’t allow for much spending. However, I do know that there are times when you have to spend a small amount to earn a larger one. This is often the case with mystery shopping, since you often need to try the product or service you are evaluating. Some mystery shopping jobs require that you make a purchase, but I tend to only choose jobs that don’t require me to invest anything over twenty-five dollars, and the more minimal the purchase the better.

So, how does a mystery shopper get paid?

Here is the set back, some jobs pay nothing except for reimbursements of what you bought. This sounds crappy at first, but if it was something that you were going to buy anyway then you just got your item for free (kind of). There are some, but few jobs, that pay a lot, even up to a hundred dollars, but most companies require that you have a good reputation in place before you are given those jobs.

It can take anywhere from three to six weeks before you get paid or receive a reimbursement. This is another fallback for me, since our resources are limited and if I am spending money to make money, the wait for the check can be crunching.

Still want to try it? Here are some tips for being successful.

While mystery shopping sounds pretty easy, it is actually a lot of work, which takes preparation time and detailed documentation. Companies want people who can portray the services they received accurately. You need to keep clear and accurate records, especially if you are completing more than one assignment.

Lastly, you have to remember that your answers could potentially affect another person’s job. You need to be very careful when criticizing the performance of workers. Remember that you are being paid not to be a critic, but a reporter.

If you decide to be a mystery shopper, I wish you the best of luck. Come back and tell us about your experiences. And once again, do your research before you make any commitments!

wedding fans

Q: I have been having my home based business for three years now and I still am struggling with how to juggle business and being a mom, wife and housekeeper. How do you juggle these? I want to make this a success, but so far it’s only been frustration.

My children are four and two years old and they are more challenging than most (not as in spoiled, but as in needing more time than the average kid). Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

A: GREAT question. My kids are now seven and four, so I now have a little bit of help in my seven-year-old. But, I found something that I had written a few years ago. In it, I listed my kids’ ages as four and one. I could tell when reading it that I had been very frazzled. I think I lived in a state of frazzled during those years when they were both so small.

My main advice would be to cut yourself some slack. Things will get easier and more manageable as your kids get older.

My practical advice is this:

1. Plan out menus each week.

I literally spend about two minutes on this. I have a small magnetic dry-erase board that I keep on my refrigerator. Each Sunday, I write out the days of the week and what we’ll have for supper that day. (Lunches almost always consist of sandwiches or something easy like that since it’s just me and the kids.)

This makes grocery shopping a breeze because I know just what ingredients I need. It also alleviates the nagging thoughts of “what are we going to eat tonight?” If possible, have one or both of your kids help you decide what to put. You’ll be surprised at how much they like having a say in what goes on that board!

2. Set a day for everything.

My days look something like this:

* Mondays – Housework and laundry (and business tasks as time allows)

* Tuesdays – Grocery shopping and business tasks (this used to be during naptime, but is now during preschool time)

* Wednesdays – Bible study and lunch with hubby (and business tasks as time allows)

* Thursdays – Business tasks as much as possible with playtime in between

* Friday – Take it Easy Day (and business tasks as time allows)

* Saturdays – Laundry

* Sunday – Church and a good, long nap

It seems a little boring on paper, but I can’t tell you how much this little schedule has saved my sanity. I know when I get up in the morning what I have ahead of me and it is broken into manageable segments. You’ll find that scheduling things amongst these “main” schedule items will get easier and easier as you get used to the schedule.

About the Author:

Jill Hart is the founder of Christian Work at Home Moms, CWAHM.com.

Have you been considering starting a home business online or offline? If so, there are some decisions that you must make. First, you must decide if it would be the right thing for you to work from home. Next you will need to decide what type of home business you will start.

There are many opportunities available, both online and off. Having a successful career starts by evaluating your skills and requirements in the job, and then finding the match that is right for you.

In most cases, it is best to start your new career from the experience of your previous employment. You can offer an independent service and seek a company who hires individuals in your field to do work from home. You can use your previous experience to become an expert writer about what you know or start a home business online about what you know.

However, some people look at their work at home careers as a way of breaking out of their old jobs. If you would like to try something different, there are many opportunities for jobs that deal with telephone or online customer service.

When you work from home as a customer service representative, you just need a working phone and a reliable Internet connection. Many companies also hire data entry professionals, medical transcriptions and virtual personal assistants to telecommute.

Starting your own home business offers vast opportunities. You may want to start small in direct sales, selling products of an established company brand to friends and neighbors.

Making commissions from your sales, as well as from recruiting other people to sell the products. There are a large number of direct sales companies who offer everything from aromatherapy products to cooking supplies to candles.

Yet another option is to start a home business offline that offers a service to your community. Professional organizers, day care center, cake decorating, florist, and hairdressers all have the option of working from home, among so many other professions.

Of course, starting a home business in your community usually means that you will need to have had experience in that field. However, some small business ideas can be started without much experience at all.

Lately, many people are turning to the Internet for a source of at home income. The World Wide Web offers a multitude of career opportunities. You are able to offer your services online as a web designer, freelance writer, or virtual assistant.

You might also want to start your own online store selling your own products or have the rights to resell. A lot of people start their home business online by using already established sites such as eBay to sell their products on. Some focus their skills on directing traffic to a website and then recommend specific products and services.

First decide what type of career you want and then work from there. If you need to be around people and you need to get outside of the house, a local service business or direct sales may just be what is right for you. If you are a person who lives online and is comfortable with the Internet, build a website and start your own business on the web.

Once you have made your decision as to what type of career you would like, weather it is a home business online or off. Be sure to do some research about that area of expertise. Imagine what your life would be like once you take on the duties and responsibilities of that career. Imagine what it would be like to become successful in that business.

Most importantly, be realistic with yourself about how much time you can devote to your new business. Finding the right match isn’t all that difficult once you thoroughly consider your options.

cafepress coupon code

Work at Home Moms (WAHMs) have to spend their time wisely in order to succeed – after all, they are working two jobs! While building long term success requires some of that precious time upfront and an ongoing commitment to your business, the rewards are well worth it.

5 Tips for Long Term Success:

1. Create a business plan. In order to achieve your dreams and goals, you must first write them down. If you don’t know what you’re working towards, how can you measure your progress? On average, approximately 67% of people have specific goals. Of these 67%, approximately 10% actually have those goals written down as a business plan. Surprisingly, only 2-3% of them go on to achieve their goals.

What did the 2-3% do differently? Their written plans were more than a simple statement of their end goal. You must go beyond that and break it out into the steps required to achieve your goals, including deadlines and benchmarks. Once you determine what steps need to be taken, you also need to decide which tasks you can do yourself and which ones are better suited for outsourcing to a virtual assistant or some other resource. You can’t do it all yourself.

2. Organize your workday. Work in blocks of time rather than jumping from one thing to another throughout the day. Multi-tasking has its virtues, but your entire workday shouldn’t be a juggling act. Too much of a good thing can actually decrease your productivity due to errors and back-tracking.

How do you decide how to structure your day? Keep a journal of your daily work activities for at least one week. At the end of the week, sit down and review your notes to see which activities can be grouped into categories (e.g., writing blog articles, answering emails, social networking, etc.). If you work with multiple clients, you can group the work you do for each of them into a block of time as well.

3. Find your target market. There are literally thousands of marketing programs floating around online for entrepreneurs… it can be overwhelming. Before you spend your hard earned dollars on the “latest and greatest” marketing plan on the web, do some good old-fashioned research.

Think about your target market – write it down. Who are you selling your products or services to (include age range, geographic area, etc.)? How does it help them solve their problems? Do they belong to certain groups or forums online? How do they find out about your product or services? Who else is offering a similar product or service? What makes your product or service unique?

4. Build trust and credibility. Easier said than done, right? The best way to accomplish this is by becoming an expert in your field. Learn new skills, read articles, attend teleseminars and workshops. Once you are confident in your own knowledge and skills, it’s easier to convey that confidence to others. Write helpful articles, design your own teleseminars and workshops to educate people and share your insights. Create and give away some free ebooks that have real value. Communicate regularly with your customers through a blog or newsletter. All of these things build trust through familiarity and by providing useful information to the people who need it.

5. Be patient. Making a quick buck is always nice, but it shouldn’t take the place of your long term strategy. If you try to “trick” people into buying second rate products or services just to rake in a few dollars, it will come back to haunt you. It’s much better to slowly build up your customer base with people who like and trust you – they will reward your efforts by being repeat customers who refer all their friends and family to you. Being a successful WAHM takes time, hard work, and persistence (Rome wasn’t built in a day!), but the long term benefits are worth all the “blood, sweat, and tears!”

seo
