i bought this product from a work at home mom (WAHM) off of her web site. it was 11 for it. she said shipping would be 2.20. so i paypal-ed her 13.20. well i got the package today and the sticker said the shipping was only 1$. should i ask for her to return the rest? i know its just a dollar but money is tight and i dont feel like its very fair but i dont know how curtious it would be. would you ignore it or write her???

In most cases, the shipping charge is stated as shipping and handling, so includes things like packaging materials, not just the actual postage to send it. You agreed to 2.20, so I’d let it go. The packaging materials probably cost that much.
Companies can charge you whatever they like for shipping. Most companies actually have a contract with several shipping companies and get discount rates, but of course they can make money from the consumer. Since you agreed to pay the entire amount of 13.20, I would not dispute the shipping charge with the company, they are doing what most companies do.
I’ve run across the same problem when I’ve bought things over ebay, it’s really a pet peeve of mine when people overcharge for shipping. However, they are able to charge whatever they want for shipping and if it was stated up front and you agreed then I don’t think you are able to ask for a refund. The extra money is probably for whatever packaging they had to use to ship the product or even for the time the seller spent going to the post office, packaging it, etc.

I sell stuff on eBay and there are other expenses associated with shipping other than the actual carrier costs. Some of these expenses include: packing material, cost of gas to deliver the package to the post office, ink and paper for printing a packing slip and a shipping label, as well as personal time to pack the package (time is worth something too).
I don’t think an extra dollar is excessive.
